Retreat Director:
Father Anthony “Tony” Pizzo, O.S.A.
Fr. Pizzo is an Augustinian priest from Chicago and the Prior Provincial of the Midwest Augustinian Province. Ordained in 1984 by Cardinal Joseph Bernardin, Father Pizzo has spent decades in pastoral ministry, including many years serving the faithful of St. Rita Parish on Chicago’s South Side. Today he leads the Augustinian Province of Our Mother of Good Counsel, overseeing the work of Augustinian friars and ministries throughout the Midwest and beyond.
Father Pizzo also shares a long personal and vocational connection with Pope Leo XIV. The two men studied together at Villanova University and were formed within the same Augustinian community. Before becoming pope, Leo XIV served as Prior Provincial of the Midwest Augustinian Province—the same leadership role Father Pizzo now holds. Their shared formation and years of ministry within the Augustinian Order give Father Pizzo a unique perspective on the life and leadership of the Holy Father.
At this retreat, Father Pizzo will lead men in reflecting on the theme, “From Restlessness to Prayerfulness: An Augustinian Perspective.” Drawing on the wisdom of St. Augustine—who famously wrote that our hearts are restless until they rest in God—Father Pizzo will guide participants in exploring how the restlessness many men experience in modern life can become an invitation to deeper prayer, greater clarity of purpose, and a stronger relationship with Christ.
