It is such a wonderful feeling being able to help doctors save human lives. Every time you donate blood, you can help up to 3 or 4 individual recipients.

LifeSource needs to collect 1,000 pints of blood a day! These 1,000 pints of blood can help save the lives of 3,000 patients! 1 pint of blood can save 3 lives.

 

We seek to collect about 350,000 pints of blood a year to serve the needs of Chicagoland. We save over 1 million people annualy who are in desperate need of blood and blood products. 

 

Some of the most vulnerable patients are the ones you wouldn’t think of. Children, older patients, and newborns can be the highest use patients, not just in the city, but also in the suburbs. Many newborn babies benefit from a single blood donor as their blood requirements are smaller.

 

Also, the need for blood knows no race, creed, religion, or nationality. We supply blood to all patients!  In addition to serving local needs first, like Northwestern Health or Advocate Health systems, we also serve major hospitals like Cook County Hospital and University of Illinois Health.
