“Basics of Mariology”
January 17, 2018
7:00pm in the Community Room
This year, 2018, at St. Patrick’s Church we are celebrating a Marian Year.
We are dedicating this year to our Spiritual Mother; Jesus’ Mother, Mary. Come join your fellow parishioners and learn more about the Mother of God. We will discuss four topics: Mary’s role in Salvation History, Marian Dogmas, Marian Apparitions and Marian Devotions.
Mary’s role in Salvation History will be a significant portion of our discussion. We will cover typology from the Old Testament, Genesis 3:15, prophesies from the Old Testament, Mary as the new Eve, and the Annunciation.
We will define and explain what dogmas are and then give a brief overview of each of the four Marian dogmas.
For the Apparitions, we will review the three major Apparitions: Guadalupe, Lourdes and Fátima. We will also discuss other Apparitions, especially the one in the U.S. in Champion, Wisconsin. Stay tuned for more details regarding a Pilgrimage we hope to make in June!
Finally, we will chat about Marian devotions, including the rosary, the miraculous medal, Marian prayers, the Servite rosary, and Consecration to Mary.
Join us as we begin our Year of Mary!
