Life Skills Lecture
The Women’s Group hosted their first Life Skills Lecture Monday evening October 17th at the Brushwood Center at Ryerson Woods. Fellow parishioner, Sally Willis, provided inspiration as she talked about sharing God’s love and mercy through her work encouraging others to embrace healthier lifestyle choices.
Tidbits of wisdom from the evening included:
-
K.I.S.S. in prayer: Keep It Simple and Sincere
-
K.I.S.S. with food: Keep It Simple and Sensible
-
Eat one apple a day.
-
Every second of every day is an opportunity to start anew.
-
Sitting is the new smoking.
-
God is merciful to us; we need to be merciful with ourselves.
The Brushwood Center provided the perfect setting for such an inspirational evening. Originally built as a weekend cabin in 1928 by Edward and Nora Ryerson, by 1966 the Ryerson’s transferred the cabin and surrounding land to the Lake County Forest Preserve District to preserve its natural beauty. Women’s Group Board member Jackie Rockwell, Events Planner at Brushwood Center, made this wonderful gem of God’s creation available to us for the evening.
