Walking with families when someone they love has died.

A ministry of consolation

When a member of the Body of Christ dies, we are called to a ministry of consolation: to care for the dying, to pray for the dead, and to comfort those who mourn.

Bereavement Ministers help families plan and celebrate the funeral Mass, including the readings and the music, and serve at the Mass and at the visitation. The team also helps plan and celebrate the annual All Souls’ Day Mass.

Planning a funeral

When someone dies, call the parish. We will meet with you.

Speak with a priest to plan the funeral Mass or service. You do not need to arrive with decisions already made; that is what the meeting is for.

A Bereavement Minister can sit with you to choose the readings and the music, and will be there at the visitation and at the Mass.

Joanne Manarik coordinates the parish notification so the community knows to pray for your family.
