The Gethsemane stained glass window is inscribed, “Donated by Frank Redmond In Memory of Father and Mother”.  George Francis Redmond was one of eleven children born to Thomas and Mary Jane Redmond.  He was born on November 30, 1872 and was baptized here at St. Patrick on January 1st, 1873 by resident pastor R.H. McGuire, and died on January 20, 1926 at the age of 54 years old.  

 

His obituary read:  ‘Mr. G. F. Redmond died at his residence in Everett Wednesday night.  Familiarly called ‘Frank’, this name suited his character perfectly, yet with candid, honest personality was a demeanor so genial and kindly that to know him was to court his friendship.  His friends were legion, in Libertyville, as well as in Everett, as attested by the large number here who attended the obsequies.  After solemn Requiem High Mass, at which were the following clergymen, Rev. W.J. Ryan, Rev. M. Nealis, Rev. W. A. Gorey, and Rev. T. Henkel.  Interment took place in St. Patrick Cemetery, Everett.  The deceased is survived by his sister, Mrs. Edward Kennedy of Libertyville, by two brothers, Mr. Charles Redmond of Everett and Mr. Michael Redmond of Lake Forest, together with his cousin Miss Catherine Yore who has resided for many years with the late Mr. Redmond.  The community extends sympathy to the bereaved relatives.  G.F. Redmond was a bachelor’.

 

Frank donated the window in honor of his parents, Thomas 

Redmond and Mary Jane Yore Redmond.  Frank’s father, 

Thomas was born in County Wexford, Ireland to Michael 

and Catherine Redmond in 1820.  When Frank’s father, 

Thomas was thirty years old he, along with his parents and 

seven siblings, immigrated to America.  

 

Four years after the Redmond family came to the U.S., Thomas Redmond married Mary Jane Yore, the daughter of Michael and Rosanna Yore.  

 

Frank’s older sister,  Catherine Redmond married Peter 

Dawson who’s names grace another window in our old 

church.  Additionally, another sister of Frank, Rose Anna, 

married Edward J. Kennedy who’s name adorns two of our 

windows including the large round St. Patrick window at 

the front of our church.  Frank along with his parents are 

interred at St. Patrick Cemetery.
