On Saturday, December 1st, 2018 the Vicariate 1 ACCW (Council of Catholic Women) and the Vicar General, Bishop Ron Hicks presented this year's Golden Rose Award to Isabella Lewin (pictured below).

Each parish in Vicariate One presented this award to one young woman. The recipient should be:

1. A young woman who is a High School student.

2. This young woman should show Leadership. 

3. This young woman should portray Spirituality.

4. This young woman should have gone above and beyond in a service project when compared to her peers.

5. This young woman should be a practicing Catholic who attends Sunday Mass regularly.

6. This young woman should be a member of your parish.

Vicar General, Bishop Ron Hicks gave an inspiring keynote address focused on faith and courage. He reflected on the life of Saint Oscar Romero, a priest in El Salvador who was a voice for the voiceless during a brutal Civil War that lasted over 12 years. He urged the group attending to consider the Saint’s urging that we “Aspire not to have more, but to be more” and to “Let us not tire of preaching love; it is the force that will overcome the world”.
