"Prayer & Spirituality"

Beginning January 7, 2009, St. Patrick’s will begin the first Echoes of Faith evening session “Prayer & Spirituality.”  The morning session will begin February 4th.

God is always with us.  He wants us to talk to him and to listen to him. In prayer we raise our hearts and minds to God.  We are able to speak to and listen to God because, through the Holy Spirit, God teaches us to pray.  Ultimately, this allows us to enter into a greater union with God.

This course will explore our relationship with the living God that we call prayer.  It places prayer within the context of our spirituality; the name we give to the entire life lived in response to God’s call.  Prayer and spirituality are our “yes” to the mystery of God seeking us.  We express this mystery in our creeds, celebrate it in our liturgy, and live it out as we attempt to follow the way of Jesus.

This program is considered a basic/entry level video-assisted course and will run four consecutive weeks.  The evening session begins Wednesday, January 7th, and concludes on Wednesday, January 28th, and meets from 7:00 – 8:30 p.m.  The morning session begins Wednesday, February 4th, and concludes on Wednesday, February 25th, and meets from 9:30 – 11:00 a.m.  We will be meeting in Conference Room #1 in the Ministry Center.  There will be a $5.95 charge for the study booklet which includes a personal study CD.  To insure availability of study material, registration is required and can be done by calling the Ministry Center at (847) 234-1401.  Registration can begin now.  This course will be facilitated by Brett Swearingen, our pastoral associate at St. Patrick’s.
