Gift.jpgSharing Tree

Sharing Tree Ornaments are made available to parishioners the last weekend in November and the first weekend in December (before and after masses).  Gifts are collected through the 3rd Sunday of December and are sorted that afternoon and delivered the next morning. (Calendar may vary year-to-year).

This is a Parish-wide project that provides Christmas gifts and food certificates for 200 families served by the Food pantry in Waukegan.  Selected family names and information are provided to St. Patrick by Emma Villanueva, director of the Food Pantry.  All parishioners are asked to participate by donating gifts and/or food certificates for these families.

Volunteers are needed after masses (as noted above) to match selected family names to St. Patrick parishioners. Information sheets regarding name/age/size are distributed at this time.

Volunteers are needed to prepare computer-generated labels to be used the day the gifts are sorted.

The Sunday afternoon of the “sorting” volunteers are needed for 2-3 hours to help inventory the gifts.  This is necessary to insure that each family member received a gift and no families were overlooked.

Volunteers are needed to help load the truck and deliver the gifts to Pantry in Waukegan (on the Monday after the “sort”).The “loading” typically last 1-2 hours.  The delivery of the gifts requires an additional two hour commitment.
